In each of Anima's choruses, singers learn how to read music in a sequenced manner that is age appropriate. Solfège and Curwen hand signs are used to guide singers toward musical literacy. Singers learn healthy vocal and breathing techniques, are exposed to music from various cultures and traditions, and develop confidence, teamwork, and performance skills.

Placement in ensembles is based on age, and no prior singing experience is required. Singers demonstrating advanced musical ability and experience, as well as a willingness to commit to increased rehearsal time, may be invited to join the next ensemble one grade level early.
