Proud to be part of Pridefest 2024!
Thanks for stopping by our Lombard Pridefest booth!
Hi families!
We hope you enjoyed a beautiful day outside celebrating Pridefest 2024. Anima - Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus is honored to have performed for the second year in a row, and we are thrilled you decided to stop by and visit with us.
If this is your first introduction to Anima - Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus, let me tell you a little about us. This year marks our 60th year serving youth in and around Glen Ellyn, giving them a creative outlet, challenging them to learn new things, and supporting them in a fun, inclusive environment. We believe everyone CAN sing, and we help young people refine their instrument with all the benefits that come from singing together - friendship, confidence, joy, and more!
Treble Chorus is a great place for our upper elementary students (grades 3-5) to start. No prior singing experience is necessary - just a desire to sing and move. We meet twice a week for an hour (two total hours per week), learning age-appropriate vocal techniques, how to read music, sight-singing, how to sing in unison and two parts, and even different languages.
If you’re interested in the next step, Concert Chorus might be the right fit for your student. Concert Chorus is perfect for our 5th-8th grade singers, with 2.5 total hours of rehearsal a week (two one hour and 15 minute sessions per week). Concert choristers expand their vocal ranges and learn key signatures, more difficult sight-singing concepts, and complex rhythmic patterns.
Already a seasoned singer and looking for “your people”? Check out Touring Chorus! For our oldest and most advanced singers (7th-12th grade), Touring Chorus (SATB) focuses on continued refinement of vocal skills, including expanded singing range and technical ability and singing in three, four, or more parts. Singers continue to develop their sight-singing skills and gain understanding of all major key signatures as well as relative and parallel minors.
I am particularly passionate about each singer feeling comfortable expressing exactly who they are without concern or worry. Many of our singers tell us their friends at Anima feel like an extension of their family! Our rehearsals are a ton of fun, enrich what your child learns in music at school, and something your child will look forward to each week. We can’t wait to have your singer join us in the fall!
