Touring Chorus Curriculum
Our advanced SATB chorus focuses on continued refinement of vocal skills, including an expanded singing range and technical ability in service of phrasing, dynamic contrast, breath control, and language mastery. Touring choristers demonstrate a love of music as an expressive, artistic medium and life force.
Touring Choristers learn…
To sing in three, four, or more parts
Sight singing using moveable “do” for major keys, “la”-based for minor, and intervallic reading for non-tonal works or rapidly shifting tonalities
All major key signatures, relative and parallel minors
To read and count more complex rhythms in more complex meters
Musical concepts as related to musical form and performance practice
To demonstrate superior musical skills and professional standards of deportment
Repertoire
Touring Chorus music includes three, four, or more parts; non-tonal works; and new (commissioned) works.
Recent songs include:
Prayer of the Children, Kurt Bestor
Glow, Eric Whitacre
Hamisha Asar, Flory Jagoda

Evaluations
At the end of each semester, each chorister will participate in a vocal and written evaluation. The purpose of these evaluations is twofold:
