Join Anima-Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus Board of Directors!
Anima – GCC is seeking to grow its Board of Directors through an open call to community members in Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, and surrounding cities and towns. As a nonprofit organization, Anima – GCC is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for managing the business of the organization, ensuring that all programs and activities reflect and embody the chorus’s mission, and overseeing the fiscal health of the organization.
Anima – Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus empowers young people to experience the joy of singing together and discover their own potential through personal and collective excellence. Anima offers world-class choral music programming tailored for a range of personal aspirations for children in kindergarten through high school. We strive to get more kids singing, in more places, and in more ways.
Knowledge of or experience in music education or the performing arts is a plus but not necessary. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the importance and many benefits of music education; believe in the critical role of the arts and nonprofit organizations to our communities’ well-being; and be excited to share their expertise and perspectives among a collegial and collaborative group of individuals. We are particularly seeking individuals with skills in the following areas: accounting or finance, donor cultivation and fundraising, law, nonprofit governance.
Board members serve 3-year terms and must be able and willing to attend monthly meetings and occasional performances and fundraising events; commit to 3-5 hours/month of Board work to support the organization; and leverage connections with community members. Board members are asked to make an annual monetary or in-kind donation.

Founded in 1964, Anima is an internationally renowned leader in youth choruses in North America and has received numerous accolades and awards for performance excellence. Anima – GECC serves young singers from kindergarten through high school in a variety of ensembles and programs, and Anima choruses are regularly invited to perform with professional organizations such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Music Festival, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
